About Carolina Kidney Care

In 1977, Carolina Kidney Care, P.A. (CKC) was initiated in Fayetteville, when its first dialysis clinic was opened. This was the first dialysis outpatient clinic in North Carolina designed specifically to provide dialysis services. We opened that first clinic with only three patients, served by two nephrologists. Since that time, we have developed multiple dialysis clinics in conjunction with corporate dialysis providers. We have ten nephrologists, with the help of ten physician specialty extenders, serving nearly one thousand end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients.

We work primarily with Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) not only to provide services, but also to provide care to patients at area DaVita clinics. We, in conjunction with FMC, Cape Fear Valley Health System and Southeastern Regional Health, have developed acute (hospital) dialysis units in Fayetteville (two units) and Lumberton. We provide home dialysis training in hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis at several area locations. Nocturnal outpatient hemodialysis is also provided at a Fayetteville area dialysis center.

We have full-service nephrology offices in Fayetteville and Lumberton.

Over one thousand patients are treated in the facilities developed by Carolina Kidney Care and Fresenius Medical Care. Carolina Kidney Care now has ten nephrologists, ten nurse practitioners and providing care at two hospitals, and two main offices. In addition to peritoneal dialysis training, we now provide home hemodialysis training and offer nocturnal in-center dialysis.
